Team of the Season So Far

The Colonial

GK — Robin Roefs, Sunderland

Signing a young goalkeeper from the Eredivisie with really only one year of senior experience and chucking him straight into the Premier League was a big risk from Sunderland. That risk is paying off to the fullest so far. Roefs has three clean sheets, a penalty save, and the third most total saves in the league. Better yet, his efforts are a big reason the Black Cats find themselves in the top half to start the year.

RB — Daniel Muñoz, Crystal Palace

Muñoz is the x-factor of a soaring Eagles team. His ability to recover on defense as well as stretch the opponent is unmatched. He's notched a goal and an assist so far and has easily been one of the league's best defenders.

CB — Gabriel Magalhães, Arsenal

It wasn't long ago that Saliba was the talk of the town but Gabriel has been the man of the hour this season. He's been ever-present in an Arsenal defense that's only conceded three times in their first seven games. He also came up with a huge winning goal versus Newcastle.

CB — Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace

Everyone, including Marc Guehi I think, thought he would leave Crystal Palace at deadline day. His move was blocked but his form is flying as high as ever. Palace have one of the best defensive records in the league and he's added an assist and an incredible goal to his tally this year.

LB — Marc Cucurella, Chelsea

He's gone through ups and downs but this season he's been one of the engines of the Chelsea team. He's been reliable defensively and is a weapon going forward. He's recorded two assists and few defenders have created more going forward.

CM — Sandro Tonali, Newcastle United

Not enough can be said about Sandro Tonali. He is an absolute workhorse in that Newcastle midfield. Stats can't sum up his impact but he looks like he could slot into most if not all midfields in the world. Getting through him and his midfield partners is proving to be quite the task for opposing teams.

CM — Moisés Caicedo, Chelsea

The 100 million dollar man is fitting the bill in the first 7 games of the season. He's been a wall in front of the Chelsea backline, with more tackles and interceptions than any other midfielder. On top of that, he's found his shooting boots. His laser striker against Liverpool was his third of the young season.

CM — Declan Rice, Arsenal

Declan Rice has been incredibly consistent. He's the driving force behind league-leading Arsenal. He impacts the attack and the defense in such a big way and has continued his set piece wizardry. He's becoming the right place right time guy for Arsenal more and more. That's not by luck.

RW — Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth

Since May of this year, no one has more Premier League G/A than Antoine Semenyo. He's probably the hottest player in the league and has the Cherries flying. Watch his performance against Fulham and you'll see what he's been all about this year.

ST — Erling Haaland, Manchester City

9 goals in 7 matches. Enough said. The Norwegian battering ram is in his typical early season form. He's the reason City feel like a top 4 lock and might even become a legit title contender. He's that good.

LW — Jack Grealish, Everton

Super Jacky Grealish is back! I nearly put Mohamed Kudus here but gave Grealish the edge. Their production is similar but the creativity and impact of Grealish made the difference. Only Bruno Fernandes has created more chances than him. On top of that, his arrival and play have been a major catalyst for the resurgence of Everton at the newly built Hill Dickinson stadium.
